Nanki–Shirahama Airport is a third class airport serving the
Wakayama area and the southern part of the Kii Peninsula. Its only scheduled service is the 3-daily JAL/J-Air return to Tokyo-Haneda. This special livery was unveiled to commemorate the opening of the airport and the opening of the JAL link in partnership with the Wakayama Prefecture tourism board. Panda Wakapan is the prefecture's mascot; it refers to the giant pandas that live in the nearby Adventure World park, one of the touristic spots in the area.
