For the second year of the partnership with German tour operator Neckermann Reisen, the scheme was inverted : billboard Neckermann titles and Nordic Leisure tail logo. DMH had been leased to Blue 1 of Finland so the tail remained for a few weeks with Blue 1 markings when the special scheme was introduced. Note the basic SAS off-white fuselage colour.

Lake Tahoe is a large freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada on the border between California & Nevada. It is surrounded by many ski and snow resorts. The port side showed a snowboarder while a skier could be seen on the starboard side.

In 1995 Japanese Domestic carrier JAS teamed up with Akira Kurosawa, one of the most influential filmmakers in the history of cinema. The director of Seven Samourai was also a designer and he created 7 different designs for JAS with the original themes being “Japanese morning” and “7 rainbow colors over the skies of Japan”. The schemes were strictly symetrical and adorned all 16 brand new MD90 of the airline. The first seven aircraft became the "Seven Samourai" while from the 8th delivery, aircraft would again wear the first design and so on, becoming some kind of Shadow Warriors (the name of another Kurosawa movie).

The third MD-90 of the Californian airline was advertising its San Jose operations serving the booming high-tech industries of the Santa Clara Valley also known as the Silicon Valley. When delivered in July 1996, it was probably one of the very first aircraft to carry internet titles.

Although already on the Japanese register by October 1995, problems with the electrical system meant JA8062 was stored in the Arizona desert before paint and did not arrive in Japan before May 1996.

In March 1996 the young Reno Air put brand new MD-90s in service to serve the noise-restricted Santa Ana-John Wayne Airport in Orange County. The airline's two first MD-90s (out of a total of 5) wore these additional titles with the 'O' of Reno modified to include an orange.

The schemes were strictly symetrical and adorned all 16 brand new MD90 of the airline. The first seven aircraft became the "Seven Samourai" while from the 8th delivery, aircraft would again wear the first design and so on, becoming some kind of Shadow Warriors (the name of another Kurosawa movie).

Although this aircraft was rigorously the third registered with the airline (on December 19, 1995), it was the first to arrive at Haneda on January 9, 1996. Note the JAS titles were really mirrored on the starboard side, resulting in letters being in the wrong direction! Kurosawa died shortly after in 1998 and in honour of the artist, people asked for the aircraft to retain the liveries after the JAL-JAS merger, however for corporate image reasons, all aircraft finally got repainted in JAL's Arc of the Sun livery in the mid-2000s.
