Promoting the coastal towns around Rimini on the Adriatic Sea. When Minerva Airlines stopped operations in 2003, the aircraft was stored with sisterships first in Innsbruck then Bern, retaining its full scheme and the decals. A similar decal would be worn by an Air Alps D328 later on.

In 2001 Qantas and Balarinji Studios developped a brand new third aboriginal paint scheme using motifs painted by Central Australian artist Rene Kulitja. She is a Pitjitjantjarra woman from Mutitjulu, near Uluru (Ayers Rock) in Central Australia. Through song, dance and art, Central Australia Aborigenes tell their Tjukurrpa - Anangu Dreaming stories of land and journeys.

The famous Uluru landmark is visible on the fuselage while vibrant colours mirror the deep red tones of the earth in the region. 'Yananyi' means going or travelling. Qantas reports that, in Yananyi Dreaming, radiating pathways lead to the symbol of Uluru, depicted both as a physical form surrounded by kurkara (desert oak trees) and as an abstract representation of concentric circles. Blue hills (tali) rise from the desert landscape and Mala (rufous hare-wallaby) tracks are imprinted on the sand. Lungkata (the blue tongue lizard) basks in the hot sun in this fragile and ancient place. Yananyi Dreaming is a strong Uluru story, of particular significance for Anangu people.

China Yunnan's 6 CRJs were known as the "Little Peacock" (小孔雀) CRJs, with a small peacock mascot visible just under the cockpit windows. All 6 were delivered in unique liveries featuring Yunnan flowers, plants and landscapes. In a rather unusual way, the special part of the scheme was kept while the aircraft gained the MU livery after China Yunnan was integrated into China Eastern.

This first scheme was possibly linked to the scenic spot near Dali called "Butterfly Spring" where thousands of butterflies gather. The location is of particular significance to the Bai people, an ethnic group living in the region.

Travel to Okinawa was severely affected by the consequences of the 9/11 events. In an attempt to curb the phenomenon, JTA started a marketing campaign with the help of local organisations. JA8597 carried large titles while 12 other 734 (~ the whole fleet) of the airline had smaller decals added. Starting April 2002 decals were replaced by the ones of the Re-Okinawa campaign.

This special scheme was unveiled on October 8, 2001 to celebrate the 30 years of service of the airline, as well as the 30th anniversary of the normalization of relations between Japan and China. A bird painting competition for children was held in Japan and in China. The earth logo on the tail and the first bird featured aft of the L1 door were designed by cartoonist Leiji Matsumoto, who was part of the jury of the contest. For the rest, both sides of the plane displayed different bird drawings, with the winning entries from Chinese students featured on the port side and drawings of Japanese children on the starboard side. Remains of the livery stayed after the aircraft was sold to Fly Air of Turkey as TC-FLE.

The company was originally formed as Toa Domestic Airlines (TDA) in a merger between Toa Airways and Japan Domestic Airlines in 1971. It had adopted the JAS name in 1988.

The 14th Mediterranean Games were held in Tunis from 2 to 15 September 2001, with nearly 3,000 athletes participating. At least three aircraft wore a large tail decal replacing the airline logo. This A320 featured a large image of a swimmer.
