These two aircraft promoted the company selling Pien Tze Huang (PZH) medicine, a traditional Chinese herbal formula. It has been used as a folk remedy for cancer, inflammation, fever, stomach pain, and acne. The prescription and technology have been classified as state secrets, and it is one of the most exported Traditional Chinese medicines.

Changbai Mountain (Changbaishan) is an active stratovolcano on the Chinese–North Korean border (and known in Korea as Paektu Mountain). In mid-2020 China United teamed up with the local tourism bureau to promote travel to the mountain area via its newly-launched Beijing (Daxing)-Changbaishan route.

Exeggutor (Nassy in Japanese) is a grass/psychic-type Pokémon that appeared in the Pokémon short, Pikachu's Rescue Adventure. Its palm tree shape made it become Miyazaki Prefecture's "official" pokemon, with the prefecture known for its warm climate and Phoenix palm trees. Alolan Nassy (Exeggutor) is the regional (Alolan) form of the character, with a thinner and much longer neck looking much more like a palm tree. Nassy could be seen on the starboard side while Alolan Nassy was shown on the port side. Hinata (lit. sunny place) Miyazaki is the name of the local initiative to bolster tourism to the area.

This livery was the fifth and last mask scheme to appear on a Garuda aircraft; the design is the result of a competition entitled 'Fly Your Design Through The Sky' throughout October 2020. The theme for this competition was "Building the Future of the Nation Together", and Johanna Angelia Christian won the first prize with this artwork based on Batik Tambal motives from Yogyakarta.

A short-lived decal was added to D-ALFF in late November 2020 when LH Cargo operated what it called its first "CO₂ neutral flight", which used Sustainable Aviation Fuels (produced from feedstocks), with the remaining CO₂ footprint compensated by a program which plants trees. LH8406 linked Frankfurt with Shanghai and paved the way for regular SAF flights in Summer 2021.

JAL continued its partnership with Disney & the Oriental Park in 2020 with this logojet celebrating the 80th anniversary of Fantasia, an animated film created by Walt Disney in 1940. The film consists of eight animated segments set to pieces of classical music where -among others- Mickey Mouse casts magic on a broom and manipulates stars and clouds in the night sky.

The special livery was different on the two sides of the aircraft and was unveiled on November 18, the "birthday" of Mickey & Minnie Mouse. The first flight of the aircraft in the special scheme was a sightseeing charter flight operating from Haneda as JL1940 and drawing a large "8" celebrating the 80th anniversary of the movie.

Qatar hosted the World Cup in 2022. A7-BEB was unveiled in this scheme two years prior to the opening of the event. 7 aircraft were expected to sport the special scheme, but that was before the discovery of coating problems on some A350s.

In November 2020 China Express unveiled special decals on this A320, promoting Si Shi Jiu Fang. It is a brand launched in 2015 via crowdfunding and marketed as "Forty-nine Union" in English, mostly in the sauce-flavored liquor business. The company is based in Maotai, Guizhou, the birthplace of this traditional Baijiu (distilled liquor).
