The "Our Commitment" aircraft was unveiled in April 2021 as part of a partnership between Alaska Airlines and
UNCF, the United Negro College Fund, an American philanthropic organization that funds scholarships for Black students. The idea behind this initiative came following the 2020 Summer unrest with discussions between the management and a group of Alaska black employees.
The two sides show different quotes by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (port side) and Nelson Mandela (starboard side), emphasizing the airline's support for education as well as its corporate goals in terms of equity and inclusion.
