Tusk’s mission is to amplify the impact of progressive conservation initiatives across Africa and DHL offers its help and support to the organisation. This time the carrier helped bring back 17 critcially endangered mountain bongos from Florida to Kenya. The animals will be re-introduced in the Marania and Mucheene sanctuary in Meru County.

Starting June 2021 DHL started displaying Tusk foundation logo on the main body of a few aircraft; initially a selection of nearly 30 aircraft was expected to carry the logos, however that did not materialize. Tusk’s mission is to amplify the impact of progressive conservation initiatives across Africa and DHL offers its help and support to the organisation.

BMRJ was once again used to carry three-year-old female black rhino Eliska from its birthplace in the Czech Republic Zoo of Dvur Kralove to its natural homeland in Tanzania. The transfer was part of a conservation project run by the George Adamson Wildlife Preservation Trust, aimed at helping endangered animal populations to grow and prosper in their natural habitat. After a road transfer to its hub in Leipzig, the 757 flew nonstop to Kilimanjaro Airport with the rhino onboard.

DHL carried these two pandas from Chengdu, China to Brussels onboard this 767. Decals were short-lived and the couple of pandas was brought to the Pairi Daiza animal sanctuary for a breeding program.

DHL carried 9 silverback gorillas (as are called adult males) from Port Lympne Wild Animal Park in Kent to Batéké Plateau National Park, Gabon via Brussels and Lagos (the last sector being operated by a helicopter). The project was the result of cooperation with the Aspinall Foundation and their “Back to the Wild” initiative.

This aircraft was used to carry 3 endangered Black Rhinos from a zoo in the UK back to their native Tanzania, in the Kilimanjaro National Park.
