A new "Belgian Icon" emerged in March 2025 when Brussels Airlines unveiled this livery inspired the
Atomium Brussels landmark. The structure was the centrepiece of the 1958 Brussels World's Fair. The airline had organised a competition in 2024 with Belgian residents submitting designs that "capture the essence of the country". The work of architect Thomas Faes was chosen after more than 900 very diverse designs were submitted.
