This was the fifth scheme at JAL & JTA related to the World Natural Heritage tourism campaigns highlighting a designated area in Okinawa (& Kagoshima) Prefectures. The area consists of Amami Ōshima Island, Tokunoshima Island, the northern part of Okinawa Island and Iriomote Island. The drawing contest had been held once again for elementary and junior high school students in the Yanbaru/Iriomote Island area comprising the Kunigami, Ogimi, Higashi and Taketomi villages and towns.
Note both sides showed different elements sourced from the 2 winning designs; RAC Ryukyu Air Commuter Dash 8Q-402 JA84RC also had a small decal of the drawings on its front door for the duration of the initiative.
