Miyagi Prefecture is the central prefecture in the Tōhoku region with capital Sendai. As the local regional airline, Ibex is a logical partner of the prefecture and city tourism board and it was decided that starting May 2018 a CRJ of the airline was to sport decals of the mascot of the prefecture to boost tourism. The mascot is called Musubimaru and represents the region's abundant food with a "rice ball face" and the helmet with crescent of regional ruler of the Edo period Masamune Date. This updated scheme was chosen among 4 designs and was applied in April 2021; it had the Sendai Tanabata Festival as a motif and featured the Milky Way. The two sides showed different decals.
