Flying Honu #3
| A380-841 | ANA [+] |
In 2016 ANA launched a design competition to find a unique livery for its 3 upcoming A380 which will be assigned to the Narita-Honolulu route. The work of Chihiro Masuoka "Parent and child of Honu (sea turtle) relaxing in the blue sea of Hawaii" was chosen in 2017 with three colour variants of its sea turtle family design to be applied on the jets. The Green sea turtle, known as Honu in Hawaiian language, is regarded as a symbol of good luck and longevity in the islands.
The third Flying Honu was rolled out of the paint hangar in Hamburg-Finkenwerder on January 24, 2020 abut due to the Covid-19 outbreak, was only delivered to ANA in October 2021. It is the orange one, named Lā, the Hawaiian word for sunset.
