The panda cub featured is Sanyou 三优, the giant panda adopted by the airline and now its official mascot. San (三) is chinese for three and the cub's name was chosen to match the airline's IATA code "3U". The arrival of new generation widebodies at Sichuan Airlines also marks an additionnal step in the "Panda Road" network expansion program.
This aircraft is the first A350 of Sichuan Airlines (a Sri Lankan not-taken-up frame) and it was rolled out in Toulouse in September 2017 but due to certification delays was not delivered to the Chinese airline until August 2018. The aircraft features famous playful Sichuan pandas.
