NordStar -which is owned by the Norilsk Nickel conglomerate- was an official sponsor of the 29th Winter Universiade, an international student and youth competition, which took place in March 2019 in the Russian city of Krasnoyarsk (the other base of NordStar with Norilsk). This was the first time this event took place in Russia.
