This unique exterior paint scheme conceived by a small group of Alaska maintenance technicians, was designed to symbolize remembrance, pride, and appreciation to American soldiers and veterans. Alaska has long been offering complimentary travel to veterans on Honor Flights: as of 2016 the airline had flown more than 600 World War II, Korean War and Vietnam veterans from Alaska, Washington and Oregon states to Washington, D.C. to view their war memorials through the National Honor Flight network and the Last Frontier Honor Flight.
A second 737 was painted in the scheme in 2019 to allow easier scheduling of the special liveried aircraft on Honor Flights. A brand new E175LR operated by Horizon Air then joined the club as well.
