The 1st Giant Panda International Eco-tourism Festival took place in Dujiangyan City in September 2015. The four-month event's focus was the giant panda protection, the giant panda culture brand, the giant panda eco-tourism line and the tourism product of Dujiangyan City - "World Heritage Dujiangyan Panda's Homeland Happiness".

The event had 4 panda-derived mascots, two of each being featured on each side of the plane (Panda Chief, General Panda, Panda Wise Man, Panda Princess). Note Dujiangyan City is also known for its Irrigation System which provides water for Chengdu, the largest city in the Sichuan Province.
