LINE is a freeware app for instant communications on electronic devices launched in Japan in the aftermath of the March 2011 Tōhoku earthquake, which damaged the country's telecom infrastructure. It became the country's largest social network by 2013.

Note both sides were different and featured many of the LINE Friends, a set of characters created by Kang Byeongmok on purpose for the company. Brown, Cony, Sally, James, Moon, Boss, Jessica, Edward, Leonard, Choco, Pangyo and Rangers are their names. Users purchase and exchange stickers representing these characters.
