China Eastern launched its Gansu branch in March 2014 in cooperation with the local government. Gansu Province is located west in the country and has Lanzhou as capital city. This small branch operated 10 A320 in 2017.

The livery features Feitian or Flying Apsaras, which are female spirits of the clouds and waters in Hindu and Buddhist mythology. Some of these creatures can be seen on the walls of decorated caves in Gansu province (notably in the Mogao & Yulin caves).
