The Hobbit is a film series consisting of three high fantasy adventure films directed by Peter Jackson. Together they act as a prequel to Jackson's The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. New Zealand's beautiful landscapes again served as the scenery of the "Middle-Earth", and Air New Zealand was again a partner of the series.
This first aircraft was unveiled in November 2012 in time for the release of the first opus The Lord of the Rings: An Unexpected Journey. The aircraft transported the cast and film crew to the premiere which took place in Wellington on November 27, and performed a low-pass over the city the day after.
