Qinghai province in northwestern China is a montainous and very scarsely populated region. The three flowing lines at the rear of the fuselage represent the Yellow, the Yangtze and the Mekong rivers, which all originate from the Qinghai Sanjiangyuan Region, literally the region of the "Source of Three Rivers".

Although China Eastern does not run any Qinghai branch or unit like it does in many other provinces, these special liveries highlight the cooperation between the airline and the local provincial government. The aircraft painted in this livery belong to the Northwest branch based in Xi'an. B-6452 was used to inaugurate the Delingha Airport in Qinghai in 2014.
