The schemes unveiled on both D-ATUC & D-ATUE in January 2011 were the result of a joint marketing effort by TUIfly and Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB). It aimed at increasing awareness of an offer of combined flight+train ticket that already in 2011 had been available for about 20 years. This aircraft sported the colours of an ICE 3, the Inter-City high-speed train linking large German cities.
