Ryōmaden is an NHK "Taiga" (for year-long historical fiction) drama in 48 episodes first aired in January, 2010. The story centers on the life of 19th-century Japanese historical figures Iwasaki Yatarō (the founder of Mitsubishi) and Sakamoto Ryōma (a prominent figure in the movement to overthrow the Tokugawa shogunate).
