Anticipating the 1998 World Cup that took place in France, Varig supported the National Team with this MD-11 and a 737. Although Varig's logo makes a fifth star in the row, Brazil didn't win the World Cup that year. The scheme was replaced by another one just before the 2002 World Cup. Already before repaint in the standard scheme both aircraft had already lost the CBF logos and titles.
