As the home airline of Atlanta, Delta was logically chosen as the official airline for the 1996 Summer Games. The original "Spirit of Delta" 767 was unveiled in the Olympic livery on July 27, 1995 as the first of two special aircraft.
The MD11 had special titles reading "The Centennial Spirit, Athens 1896 - Atlanta 1996".
