Moomins are the central characters in a series of books and a comic strip by
Swedish-speaking Finnish illustrator and writer Tove Jansson. These characters are popular in Japan hence the choice of widebodies. The livery was applied to 2 DC-10 in 1995 and from 1996 the same decals were seen on MD-11 OH-LGC ; every winter the aircraft had Santa Claus stickers instead (see separately), with the Moomins back for the rest of the year, every year until 1999.
