Varig added large markings to support the national football team for the first time on the occasion of the 1994 World Cup held in the USA. Initially PP-VMD had green & yellow stripes around the fuselage, "O avião da Seleção" titles and mascot on the engines as well as the 3 stars on top of the Brazil titles just aft of the front door representing the 3 first victories of the team in the World Cup.

After Brazil won its 4th title on 17th July a 4th "tetra" star and titles on the rear part of the fuselage were added to celebrate the victory. Note at least two 737-300 also had small logos & titles for the event (PP-VOT & PP-VTA), being used for the transportation of the team between the venues in the US. VOT also later gained "Tetra" titles.
